A place of discovery - La Ferme du Dolmen, Aug 15

Ever since it opened in the year 2000, La Ferme du Dolmen has been a place of discovery for an ever-increasing number of visitors – both children and adults alike.

Started by Paul Perard, a former airline pilot, the farm covers an area of 3 hectares criss-crossed by numerous pathways providing access to the animal enclosures where the goats, lamas, pigs, sheep, rabbits, chickens and hens, ducks and peacocks can all be found.

You can also take a walk among the 200 or so varieties of Mediterranean plants, drinking in their scents and colours along the way. Plants, animals, regional products and drinks are on sale and there is a picnic area with a barbeque and games for use by visitors to the farm. You can also try riding the horses or donkeys for quarter of an hour or if you are a more experienced rider, hire for the whole day and discover the area on horseback with the family.

La Ferme du Dolmen is approximately 30 minutes from Montpellier on the D2 between Canet and Plaissan. It is open every day between 1 June and 31 August from 10.00 to 19.00 hours. From 1 September to 31 May, it opens between 10.00 and 12.00 and 14.00 to 18.00 on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and in the school holidays. Other days are possible by appointment and group visits and theme parties are available by arrangement.
